About the Role We are seeking an experienced Method & Maritime Security Specialist to support a major midstream oil export facility in Tanzania, including a Marine Tank Terminal (MTT), Jetty, and Load Out Facility (LOF).
This role is critical to ensuring full compliance with International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) regulations ahead of crude oil export operations, while maintaining a robust, integrated maritime security posture across land and sea assets.
You will work closely with port authorities, marine police, government security forces, and private security providers, monitoring the evolving threat environment and ensuring effective prevention, preparedness, and response.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure preparation, submission, and approval of the Port Facility Security Assessment (PFSA) and Terminal Facility Security Plan (TFSP) in accordance with ISPS requirements.
Oversee and integrate maritime security operations between offshore and onshore assets.
Liaise with port authorities, marine police, and government security forces to maintain a coordinated security approach.
Provide maritime counter-terrorism advice and training to relevant stakeholders.
Ensure 24/7 maritime security coverage for anchorages, shipping channels, and load-out operations.
Plan and deliver ISPS-compliant training programmes, drills, and exercises with security contractors and government forces.
Conduct six-monthly ISPS compliance audits of the MTT, Jetty, and LOF.
Perform vulnerability and threat assessments of maritime and offshore assets.
Assess maritime contractors’ performance, deployment, and liaison effectiveness.
Monitor international and national maritime laws and regulations to ensure best practice.
Participate in maritime emergency response and crisis management activities.
Investigate maritime security incidents, maintain records, and implement corrective actions.
Health, Safety & Environmental Responsibilities The role requires strict adherence to HSE standards and procedures, ensuring the safety of personnel, communities, assets, and the marine environment at all times.
Qualifications & Experience Mandatory Certifications & Training
Port Facility Security Officer (PFSO)
Ship Security Officer (SSO)
Maritime Counter Terrorism certification
Professional Experience & Knowledge
Minimum 10 years’ experience in maritime security roles within Oil & Gas, energy, port, or large infrastructure projects
Strong knowledge of port and terminal operations
Proven experience in ISPS implementation, audits, and compliance
Security & Safety Competencies
