Job Title: Chief Engineer – Multi-Purpose Supply Vessel (MPSV)
Reports To: Captain / General Manager / Administrative Manager
Location: Offshore / Onboard Vessel
Employment Type: Contract / Full Time
Job Summary
The Chief Engineer is responsible for the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of all
mechanical, electrical, and engineering systems onboard the Multi-Purpose Supply Vessel.
This includes maintenance, repairs, compliance with maritime regulations, and management
of the engine room team to ensure uninterrupted vessel operations.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and operate all main engines, auxiliary engines, generators, and machinery
Ensure proper maintenance and repair of all engineering equipment onboard
Always maintain engine room safety and cleanliness
Ensure compliance with international maritime regulations (SOLAS, MARPOL, Class,
Flag State)
Implement and follow company Planned Maintenance System (PMS)
Monitor fuel consumption, lubricants, and spare parts inventory
Prepare engineering reports, logbooks, and maintenance records
Supervise and train engine room crew
Ensure compliance with ISM Code and company Safety Management System
Coordinate with shore management for repairs and technical support
Respond promptly to machinery failures and emergencies
Qualifications & Certifications
Valid Certificate of Competency as Chief Engineer
STCW certification (Basic Safety, Advanced Firefighting, Medical First Aid, etc.)
Valid medical fitness certificate
ISM/ISPS awareness training
DP knowledge (if applicable – preferred)
Experience
Minimum of 3–5 years’ experience as Chief Engineer on offshore/supply vessels
(MPSV, PSV, AHTS preferred)
Skills & Competencies
Strong technical and troubleshooting skills
Leadership and team management ability
Knowledge of marine engineering regulations
Ability to work under pressure
Proficiency in spoken and written English for effective communication and reporting
