Job Title: Deputy Security Manager - UAS & Airspace (Rotational Role)
Division: Security
We are seeking an experienced Deputy Security Manager - UAS & Airspace to lead and coordinate all drone and airspace-related security operations within a complex, high-risk environment. This is a senior, site-based role requiring strong technical expertise in unmanned aerial systems (UAS), counter-drone technologies, and airspace security management.
Role Overview Reporting to the Security Manager, you will be responsible for the full oversight of airspace security operations, including surveillance, threat detection, and counter-UAS activities. You will ensure safe, compliant, and effective use of advanced aerial technologies while maintaining constant situational awareness across the operational area.
Key Responsibilities
Manage all airspace security operations, including UAS (drone) and counter-UAS systems
Plan, coordinate, and supervise aerial security missions (surveillance, reconnaissance, risk assessment)
Maintain continuous Airspace Situational Awareness (ASA) and provide timely intelligence reporting
Oversee drone and counter-drone teams, ensuring high operational standards, discipline, and competency
Coordinate with civil aviation authorities, military stakeholders, and internal teams on all airspace matters
Monitor and respond to unauthorized aerial activity, including drone incursions
Supervise flight authorization processes, including No-Fly Zones and secure air corridors
Ensure operational readiness and maintenance of all UAS/C-UAS systems (radar, RF detection, EO/IR, jamming equipment)
Produce daily reports on aerial, onshore, and offshore security activity
Support procurement processes, including technical specifications, scopes of work, and cost estimates
Deliver training and awareness on drone risks and airspace security procedures
Promote innovative solutions to enhance airspace security effectiveness
Accountabilities
Ensure full protection of project airspace and associated infrastructure
Guarantee compliance with all security SOPs, aviation regulations, and VPSHR standards
Provide accurate reporting on threats, incidents, and system performance
Maintain high availability and reliability of all airspace security systems
Supervise contractors and personnel involved in UAS and C-UAS operations
Embed strong HSE practices across all activities, ensuring safety remains the top priority
Candidate Requirements
Proven experience in UAS / C-UAS operations (military, police, aviation, or industrial security)
Strong technical knowledge of drone and counter-drone systems (RF, radar, EO/IR, jamming technologies)
Solid understanding of airspace regulations (ICAO and/or local aviation authorities)
Experience in airspace security risk assessment and threat analysis
Background working with military or security forces
Fluent in English (Portuguese and/or Swahili advantageous)
Strong IT skills, including situational awareness and reporting tools
Valid driver's license and passport
Clean criminal record
Working Conditions
Rotational role: 4 weeks on / 4 weeks off
Site-based in a remote, high-risk environment
Tropical climate with demanding working conditions and extended hours
Camp-based accommodation with shared facilities provided
Restricted movement due to elevated security conditions
High malaria-risk area - strict adherence to health precautions required
24/7 availability expected in case of operational emergencies
