Maintenance Engineer - Uganda
Location: Kampala, Uganda (Single status Residential)
Duration: 12+ Month Contract
Day Rate Basis
We are supporting a major onshore energy development project in Uganda and are looking for an experienced Maintenance Engineer to join the operations and maintenance team. This is a key role supporting maintenance optimisation, equipment reliability, and operational performance across a complex production environment using real-time monitoring and digital performance tools. Reporting to the Smart Room Leader, you will provide technical maintenance support across operational sites, helping drive equipment reliability, predictive maintenance activities, and production efficiency. You'll work closely with maintenance, operations, planning, and contractor teams to support critical maintenance activities and improve asset performance across the project.
Key Responsibilities
Support implementation of HSEQ procedures and promote strong safety culture across all activities
Provide technical guidance to site maintenance teams on equipment operation and maintenance
Monitor plant and equipment performance using Smart Room digital monitoring tools
Analyse maintenance data and equipment condition trends to improve reliability and availability
Support troubleshooting, fault finding, and breakdown response activities
Review preventive maintenance plans and upcoming maintenance campaigns
Track maintenance backlog and support optimisation of maintenance execution
Monitor safety critical equipment performance and reporting activities
Support shutdown preparation and maintenance campaign planning
Interface with contractors, vendors, and discipline teams to improve maintenance performance
Participate in daily, weekly, and monthly operational performance meetings
Support predictive maintenance and asset health monitoring initiatives
Candidate Profile
Degree qualified in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
8-10 years' experience within oil & gas operations or maintenance environments
Strong understanding of onshore production and process systems
Experience supporting equipment reliability and maintenance optimisation activities
Strong analytical and troubleshooting capability
Familiar with digital maintenance or asset performance monitoring tools
Strong communication and stakeholder coordination skills
Reliability-centred maintenance mindset preferred
Fluent in English
