Lead Planning & Reporting Engineer - Kampala
Location: Kampala, Uganda (Residential)
Duration: 12+ Month Contract
Day Rate Basis
We are supporting a major greenfield energy development project in East Africa and are looking for an experienced Lead Planning & Reporting Engineer to join the Project Controls team.
This is a senior-level role responsible for leading project planning, scheduling, progress measurement, and reporting activities across a complex, multi-package development. Reporting to the Project Control Manager, you will oversee integrated project scheduling and reporting activities throughout the execution phase, ensuring accurate progress tracking, forecasting, and project performance visibility across all work packages. You will play a key role interfacing with package managers, contractors, and project leadership teams to support successful project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, maintain, and update integrated project schedules across all project phases
Define and manage Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) for planning and reporting purposes
Monitor and analyse project progress, critical paths, and schedule risks
Review and assess contractor schedules, methodologies, and progress reporting
Coordinate and supervise planning engineers and project scheduling activities
Consolidate project-wide progress measurement and reporting data
Prepare weekly and monthly project reports for management and stakeholders
Support forecasting, schedule simulations, and recovery planning activities
Ensure accurate and up-to-date planning and progress documentation at all times
Interface closely with package managers and multidisciplinary project teams
Promote strong HSSE compliance across all planning and reporting activities
Candidate Profile
Degree qualified in Engineering or relevant technical discipline
15+ years' experience in planning and project controls within oil & gas or infrastructure projects
Strong experience managing integrated project schedules on large-scale developments
Advanced knowledge of:
Primavera P6
MS Project
MS Excel
Strong analytical, reporting, and coordination skills
Experience working within multicultural and multidisciplinary project environments
Strong communication and stakeholder management capability
Fluent in English
